Blueberries Help Protect Against Dementia

Full of antioxidants, blueberries have already achieved 'superfood' status, having been associated with lower risk of heart disease and cancer. But a recent study has shown the 'superfruit' may also protect our brains as we get older.

The study by Cincinnati University found that powdered blueberries improved cognitive performance and brain function of dozens of adults aged 68 and over who already had mildly impaired skills.  The researchers now plan to test those aged 50 to 65 focussing on those who are obese, have high blood pressure or cholesterol, and considered at higher risk of dementia.
